We lounged around the unit today, did go for a drive to Minden for a bit of food. Found a good Mexican Restaurant, Francisco's, and had a really nice lunch. THen on to Raleys supermarket and on the way back to the timeshare we were able to find a credit union where I was able to get cash.
We sat around the timeshare the rest of the day, John watched TV, played Free Cell on his computer, after dinner we watched the DVD "2010".
A bit about the Hot Springs and town of Genoa:
The original Hot Springs hotel was built in 1862 on the Emigrant and Pony Express Trails. As with most other old west' landmarks, it burned down and the buildings we see now are newer. There are 6 hot spring spas and a mineral pool plus saunas, steam rooms, etc. Situated in a very scenic part of the Carson Valley, the complex nestles against the Sierra foothills and rooms facing the east have a lovely view of the valley; however, our room faced west and the foothills are directly across the road, we did not have as picturesque a view.
The town of Genoa was the first pioneer settlement in the territory, dating back to the mid-1800's, I was a Mormon Settlement first, there is a restored park in town depicting how it looked and with a small museum. Genoa has the oldest courthouse in the State, after the building was closed, it reopened as a school, then had other functions, but it is now a museum with a great lot of history and memorabilia. The courtroom upstairs is restored as it was originally, complete with a dummy judge! In the basement is an old jail, it is today as it was when the courthouse was in use. Genoa had vied for the State Capitol and lost the b id to Carson City. Genoa is a charming tiny place along the road, it has a couple of eateries and antique stores, that is pretty much all there is to the town except some houses.
